On March 11, 2019, Rev. Shan Weixiang, vice president and general secretary of China Christian Council received a delegation from the Association of Protestant Churches and Missions in
Rev. Martin Krieg, director for Asia/Pacific for EMW retrospected the exchanges and cooperation between the Chinese and German churches, which has been in the fields of social services, theological education and inter-religious dialogue. He hoped to enhance the bilateral partnership.
Before arriving in Shanghai, the delegation also visited seminaries in Beijing, Shenyang, Harbin, and Nanjing. During the visit to Northeast Theological Seminary (Shenyang) and Heilongjiang Theological Seminary (Harbin), the delegation was impressed with the improved infrastructure as well as the number of theological students and faculty members.

Rev. Shan Weixiang spoke highly of the cooperation between two sides and saw the inter-religious peace dialogue as instrumental in the development of Christianity in two countries. He agreed that the exchange can be extended to a broader sphere.
Dr. Michael Biehl, director of Theological Education Department of EMW expressed his expectation of further cooperation.
