From April 17 to 20, 2025, Guangdong Union Theological Seminary held Holy Week worship services. Through events featuring foot washing, communion, Via Dolorosa meditation, and Easter dawn worship, all students and faculty members commemorated the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord Jesus, deeply experiencing the grace of salvation brought by Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection.
On the evening of April 17, the foot washing and communion service took place on the seminary’s playground. Class supervisors led their students to wash foot and pray for one another, in order to emulate Christ’s love and humility. Rev. Cai Jianwei and Rev. Qiu Dan co-officiated the communion.
On the early morning of April 18, the seminary held the Via Dolorosa meditation service. Students and faculty members carried a cross to retrace the fourteen stations of the Via Dolorosa, experiencing Christ’s journey to the cross. The service began with the students and faculty singing “ALas! And Did My Saviour Bleed”, which expressed the gratitude for Christ’s sacrifice. The meditation service ended with a benediction by Rev. Cai Jianwei, vice chairperson of Guangdong TSPM and vice president of the seminary.
At 6 o’clock in the morning on April 20, the Easter dawn worship service was held on the playground. Following the joyful prelude of “Because He Lives”, Rev. Cai Bosheng, president of Guangdong CC and the seminary, delivered a sermon titled “The Witness of the Empty Tomb”, elaborating on the evidence and significance of Christ’s rising from the dead. Finally, Rev. Cai offered a benediction to conclude the dawn service, which was filled with joy and hope.
