On the morning of July 8, 2025, Liaoning CC&TSPM held a memorial service for Rev. Xing Chunlan. The senior pastor peacefully rested in the arms of the Lord at 12:05 a.m. on July 6, 2025, a Sunday of resurrection, at the age of 105.
The service was attended by Elder Shi Aijun, chairperson of Liaoning TSPM, Rev. Hou Yujie, president of Liaoning CC, and several members of Liaoning CC&TSPM’s leadership team.
Rev. Xing was born on September 25, 1921, in Tieling City, Liaoning Province. She was baptized in 1934 and graduated from the Qiqihar Luther Theological Seminary in Heilongjiang in 1945. The following year, she began her ministry at the Hongtuling Church in Benxi, where she also engaged in charitable work.
After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Rev. Xing was one of the first 1,527 signatories of “The Three-Self Manifesto” (“Direction of Endeavor for Chinese Christianity in the Construction of New China”), which was issued on July 28, 1950, and received a strong response from Chinese Christians nationwide. The Manifesto was subsequently published in the People’s Daily on September 23, 1950.
Rev. Xing Chunlan’s entire life stood as the testimony to the development of the Chinese Christianity, and this esteemed pastor made significant contributions to healthy continuation of the church’s legacy in Benxi and throughout the province.
During the memorial service, Elder Shi Aijun reminisced about the centennial birthday of Rev. Xing Chunlan on November 10, 2020. Pastoral staff from Liaoning CC&TSPM visited this senior pastor, who was bed-ridden, yet mentally sharp, quick-witted, and articulate. The hundred-year-old pastor finally led a prayer for her visitors. This centennial celebration was documented by Liaoning CC&TSPM, and published in the December 2020 issue of “Tian Feng”, the magazine affiliated with CCC&TSPM.
