On the morning of August 21, 2026, Shanghai CC&TSPM hosted a summer book discussion for theological students at the meeting room of the Center for the Practice of Chinanization of Christianity in Shanghai.

The discussion was moderated by Xu Shiqi, a postgraduate student at Nanjing Union Theological Seminary. Those in attendance included Rev. Yu Guangzhi, President of Shanghai CC; Rev. Zhang Aili, Vice President of Shanghai CC and Secretary General of Shanghai CC&TSPM; Rev. Jing Jianmei, Residential Associate Secretary General of Shanghai CC&TSPM; and nearly 20 theological students recommended by churches across Shanghai who are currently studying at East China Theological Seminary and Nanjing Union Theological Seminary.

The discussion centered on Christianity and Chinese Culture by Wu Leichuan, one of the recommended titles in the 2026 reading list on fine traditional Chinese culture released by Shanghai’s religious communities. Participants shared their reflections on the book and discussed its historical context, the relationship between Christianity and Chinese culture, and the interaction between faith and society from different perspectives.

In the book exchange session, participants introduced the books they had brought and shared the reasons for their recommendations.
