From October 14 to 16, 2026, CCC&TSPM held a discussion and training seminar in Weifang, Shandong Province, on theological theory development for the Chinanization of Christianity, with the doctrine of humanity as its theme.
The event brought together leaders of CC&TSPMs from provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, seminary faculty members, and selected contributors to the call for papers on the doctrine of humanity.
Rev. Xu Xiaohong, Chairperson of National TSPM, and Rev. Dong Meiqin, Director of Shandong TSPM, attended the opening ceremony. Rev. Lin Manhong, Residential Vice President and General Secretary of CCC, presided over the ceremony.
Rev. Xu Xiaohong delivered a lecture entitled “The Chinanization of Christianity through the Lens of the Christian Doctrine of Humanity.” Rev. Wu Wei, President of CCC and President of Nanjing Union Theological Seminary, presented a lecture entitled “Thoughts on Humanity: A Dialogue Transcending Time and Space.”
Nearly 400 papers were submitted in response to the call for papers on the doctrine of humanity. Among them, the authors of 24 selected papers presented their research and exchanged ideas over the course of the three-day seminar. From the perspective of advancing the Chinanization of Christianity, they explored how to develop a balanced doctrine of humanity for the Church in China by integrating the tradition of the universal Church with the finest elements of traditional Chinese culture and the fullness of biblical teaching.
On the afternoon of October 16, Rev. Lin Manhong presided over the closing ceremony. Three representatives from the group discussions shared their reflections. Addressing the practical challenges facing the development of theological theories for the Chinanization of Christianity, they noted that closer integration between theoretical research and church practice is essential to further strengthen the foundation of theological development in this area.
