On October 25, 2025, a conference commemorating the 80th anniversary of Taiwan’s Restoration convened in Beijing. There were approximately 500 attendees, including senior officials from the central Party, government, military, and mass organization, and the municipal leadership of Beijing, leading figures from the central committees of democratic parties and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, personages without party affiliation, representatives, experts, and scholars from various sectors based in the capital, compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, overseas Chinese representatives, and foreign diplomatic envoys and representatives of international organizations in China. Rev. Xu Xiaohong, Chairperson of National TSPM, was also invited to attend the conference.

On October 24, the 18th session for the 14th Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress deliberated a decision to legally designate October 25 as the Commemoration Day for the Taiwan’s Restoration. The decision stipulated that the state shall organize commemorative activities in various forms on this day. The conference, held on the first observance of the day, was of profound contemporary significance.
