Rev. Xu Xiaohong Attends the Installation of the 7th Archbishop of the Province of the Anglican Church in South East Asia

At the invitation of the Diocese of Singapore, Rev. Xu Xiaohong, Chairperson of National TSPM, partook in the installation service of the 7th Archbishop of the Province of the Anglican Church in South East Asia held at St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Singapore on January 23, 2023. Bishop of Singapore Titus Chung Khiam Boon, was installed as the new archbishop.



The service was attended by more than 900 people, including the former president of Singapore Tan Keng Yam, current ministers, bishops of the Anglican Communion and religious leaders around the world, etc. There were also tens of thousands of people witnessing this moment online. Current president of Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam attended the thanksgiving dinner following the service.

The Right Rev. Dr. Titus Chung is the tenth Bishop of Singapore, and was installed at this service as the seventh Archbishop of the Province of the Anglican Church in South East Asia. He noted in the sermon that being the Archbishop meant he should shoulder greater responsibilities. He promised to act actively to promote ministries of all sorts, and called upon churches to contribute to world peace in this turbulent time.


In the thanksgiving dinner after the installation service, the Right Rev. Dr. Titus Chung made a speech, giving thanks to Rev. Xu Xiaohong for attending his installation service. Rev. Xu extended congratulations and presented a gift for the new archbishop.



During the visit to Singapore, Rev. Xu Xiaohong had friendly talks with bishops from Africa and Southeast Asia, and leaders of local seminaries and churches. Rev. Xu introduced them to the basic situation of the Church in China and the Chinanization of Christianity, and expressed hopes that they would enhance mutual connection and cooperation in the future.
