Fujian Theological Seminary Holds 2018 Athletic Conference

2018 Fujian Theological Seminary Autumn Sports Conference kicked off on 19th October.

 

Even though it was an overcast day in late autumn, it did not stop the community in Fujian Theological Seminary being excited about the sports races. Rev. Yue Qinghua, President of Fujian Theological Seminary, encouraged all faculties and students in the opening ceremony to keep leading a positive and energetic life through participating in sports activities. It is advisable to utilize leisure time to do sports as a way of releasing fatigue, building up the body, and becoming increasingly more vigorous and healthy. The Vice President Rev. Hao Zhiqiang gave the opening blessings.

To ensure an all-round development of students spiritually and ethnically, intelligently and physically, collaboratively and artfully, in accordance with the sporting concepts of ‘Cooperation, Collaboration and Harmony’, the sports conference this year featured both individual and team competition. Team competition included funny relay race, tug-of-war; individual ones contained skipping rope, shuttlecock and Ping-Pong, with set shoot being added this year.

The fiercest competition in the morning was tug-of-war. The ‘seesaw battle’ kicked off after a bang of gun. With rounds of fiercely competitive races among teams with similar strength, victory fell on the Department of Sacred Music, the dark horse of the sports conference this year. Additionally, funny relay race was another team competition that had high demand on team work spirit. As for individual competitions, the prominent performance of those athletics together contributed to a fascinating sports conference which brought with a lot joy and laughers.

 

There was also a basketball match as the highlight in the afternoon.

 

At the end of the day, faculties and students all had a great time and enjoyed the sports conference. President of the Student Union announced the rankings of races. The sports conference then ended up successfully with Rev. Lin Delai giving the thanksgiving prayer.
