CCC&TSPM Holds Northeastern Preaching Exchange on Reconstruction of Theological Thinking in Shenyang

From August 15 to 16, 2019, CCC&TSPM held the Northeastern Preaching Exchange on the Reconstruction of Theological Thinking themed “Cherish God’s Creation and Build A Good Life Together” in Shenyang, Liaoning Province.

 

On August 15, Rev. Zhao Guangwei hosted the morning service. Rev. Hou Yujie cited verses from Hebrew 11:4 sharing a message entitled “Better Sacrifices”. Rev. Hou exhorted the congregation to learn Biblical truth and live their lives as testimonies, unceasingly work on self-examination and self-improvement, and offer “sacrifices” on a daily basis like Abel, whose offerings were pleased by God.

 

On the morning of August 15, Rev. Wu Wei, president of China Christian Council (CCC), Rev. Shan Weixiang, vice president and general secretary of CCC, and Elder Shi Aijun, chairman of Liaoning TSPM attended the opening ceremony.

In his speech, Rev. Wu Wei urged members of the preaching group to not only practice skills in preaching, have Jesus in their heart and speak the Word of God, but also value the excellent Chinese traditional culture and core socialist values, explore the light of God in this era, preach the gospel to satisfy the spiritual needs of church members and help improve the quality of their faith.

 

From the afternoon of August 15 to the morning of August 16, 24 members of CCC&TSPM’s preaching group on the reconstruction of theological thinking gave sermons themed “Cherish God’s Creation and Build A Good Life Together” in the Rock International Church of Northeast Theological Seminary.

Preaching group members from the Provinces of Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning, together with pastors and staff members from the churches and church-affiliated fellowships in Shenyang attended the activity.

 

The preaching content involved not only individual salvation, but also the construction of ecological environment and human ecology.

 

On the afternoon of August 16, Rev. Shan Weixiang, Rev. Wang Jun, president and chairman of Shaanxi CC&TSPM, and Elder Shi Aijun attended the closing ceremony. Rev. Lin Manhong, associate general secretary of CCC hosted the ceremony.

 

Attendees gave reports in three groups, and offered ideas and suggestions towards further promoting the indigenization and contextualization of Christianity in China and the work of the preaching group on the reconstruction of theological thinking.

Rev. Shan gave the closing speech. He encouraged pastors and staff members to stand in awe of God and value the simplicity in life, to go deeper into learning the needs of believers and gave the sermons they need, to be responsive to misunderstandings and deal with rumors actively.

 

Meanwhile, churches should place emphasis on talent cultivation and nourishment for preachers, making every effort to run the church in China with a promising future.

On August 18, 14 members of the preaching group went to churches in Shenyang and neighboring cities like Fushun, Tieling, Benxi and Yingkou to share sermons on Sunday services.
