On the morning of September 6, 2019, a 21-person delegation from Singapore’s Inter-Religious Organization (IRO) visited CCC&TSPM.
Rev. Shan Weixiang, vice president and general secretary of China Christian Council (CCC), Vice President Rev. Shen Xuebin, Associate General Secretary Rev. Lin Manhong and other staff members participated in the reception.
The two sides attempt to foster mutual understanding and friendship via dialogues.
Rev. Shen Xuebin hosted the meeting. He first extended welcome towards the delegation and recalled the previous two visits by IRO.
Ven. Seck Kwang Phing, president of IRO appreciated the reception and introduced the history and purposes of establishing IRO.
Rev. Shan Weixiang briefly presented the process of the five main religions in China establishing inter-religious dialogues and achieving co-existence in harmony on the premise of mutual respect. Later, he introduced the healthy development of the Church in China since the opening up and reform policy, along with the responsibilities of different departments of CCC&TSPM.
Rev. Lin Manhong shared the basic situation of theological education in the Church in China and current challenges. Staff members of Social Service Department presented their ongoing ministries and relevant achievements through photos.
The delegation comprised delegates from Hinduism, Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Taoism, Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, Sikhism and Baha’i Faith, and etc.
The IRO aims at promoting inter-religious friendship and cooperation, trying to create an atmosphere of mutual respect among different faiths, and providing assistance and protection for believers.
