On March 8, 2020, Shandong CC&TSPM held a video conference themed on “International Women’s Day”. Over 30 people consisting of all staff members of Shandong CC&TSPM and sisters from Shandong Theological Seminary attended the conference.

Rev. Gao Ming, chairman of Shandong TSPM presided over the conference. Rev. Li Hongyu, vice president, vice chairman of Shandong CC&TSPM and vice executive president of Shandong Theological Seminary delivered greetings to sisters at the conference and preached a sermon. With the title of “Mary, a highly-favoured woman”, Rev. Li used verses from Luke 1:26-38 to exhort them to follow the example of Mary as a blessed servant of God.

Afterwards, Rev. Wang Zenghui, secretary general of Shandong TSPM extended good wishes to sisters and encouraged them to be determined and dedicate themselves to fulfilling responsibilities and the ministry of God as well as be conscientious to do the work of virus prevention for themselves and their families and actively help contain the virus.

In his remarks, Rev. Gao Ming mentioned a renowned Christian gynaecologist named Lin Qiaozhi, who can be regarded as a role model for women. With the great love of Christ, Ms. Li devoted her whole life to modern Chinese gynaecology. In this battle against COVID-19, two thirds of the frontline medical workers are female. They are selfless and devoted, playing a significant role in fighting the virus with the spirits of sacrifice and dedication.

At last, Rev. Gao made an exhortation with the verses from Proverbs 31:30, telling sisters to keep a gracious heart, learn to be virtuous and revere God in accordance with the biblical teaching, serve wholeheartedly, and live a life of sacrifice.
