On November 8, 2023, Rev. Shen Xuebin, Residential Vice President of CCC, received a delegation from the Salvation Army Hong Kong and Macau Command. The two sides had a discussion on common concerns, such as social service ministry and how to cope with the challenges from an aging society, etc.
Following Rev. Shen Xuebin’s welcome speech, Major Chan Hsu Heung Ning, General Secretary of the Salvation Army Hong Kong and Macau Region, shared her testimonials about the charitable work done by the Salvation Army in Hong Kong and Macau. As one of the top five social service organizations in Hong Kong, the Salvation Army has made great efforts in the areas of providing services for the elderly, street sleepers and the homeless.
At present, the Salvation Army has opened more than 80 social service units in Hong Kong and Macau. Starting from March this year, it has been upgraded to an international Christian denomination and charitable organization that prides itself on being “Christ’s good soldiers” with a purpose to care for the community and serve the people.
Rev. Shen Xuebin said that the friendship between CCC&TSPM and the Salvation Army has lasted for many years. The Salvation Army excels at charitable activities and social services, and has done a lot of valuable work, while CCC&TSPM has also carried out a lot of social service ministries over the years. It is believed that the visit of the Salvation Army Hong Kong and Macau Regional Delegation was a very good opportunity for exchange ideas.
Both sides exchanged gifts at the end of the meeting. The delegation then visited the Holy Trinity Cathedral.
