From 1^st to 2rd November, 2018, Jiangxi Bible School invited Dr. Shi Hengtan from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences to give lectures on the theme of ‘Christianity and Chinese Culture.’

In his lectures, Dr. Shi elaborated the following topics: ‘what is Chinese culture?’; ‘the historic encounter between Christianity and Chinese culture’; ‘the status quos and the future of both Christianity and Chinese culture’; ‘timing in Analects, Confucianism and the Bible’; ‘filial piety in Analects and the Bible’.

Abundant in cultural and historical implications, the lectures given by Dr. Shi who utilized humorous languages brought the faculty and students in Jiangxi Bible School enormous inspiration and contemplation. It is advisable for pastors and theological students in the new era to absorb the essence from history and inherit excellent traditional culture. Christian belief is supposed to take root in the soil of Chinese culture, and contribute to the country’s prosperity, social harmony and the rejuvenation of the nation.
