The Spring Festival symbolizes the historical memory, cultural concepts and spiritual values of the Chinese nation. The Spring Festival of 2025 marked the first celebration since this traditional Chinese festival was inscribed on the UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
During this festive season, pastoral staff from Qingdao CC&TSPM together with local church members celebrated the Chinese New Year in traditional Chinese ways. They visited believers’ homes to extend New Year wishes. Following the Spring Festival traditions, they thoroughly cleaned the church, adorned walls with the “Fu” (blessing) character, pasted spring couplets and window paper-cuts, and hanged Chinese lanterns and Chinese knots. Such preparations created a strong festive atmosphere, welcoming the Year of the Snake (the Yi Si Year in the Chinese lunar calender), while expressing wishes for the country’s prosperity and harmony, and the people’s peace and well-being.
