From August 24 to 26, 2026, Rev. Chan Tak-cheong, Chairperson of the Hong Kong Chinese Christian Churches Union (HKCCCU), led the newly elected Board of Executive Directors on a visit to Guangdong. The visit marked the board’s first exchange visit to the mainland of China since taking office. The delegation was warmly received by Guangdong CC&TSPM.

Rev. Guo Yun, Chairperson of Guangdong TSPM, said that Guangdong and Hong Kong enjoy close geographic and people-to-people ties, and that churches on both sides have maintained a long tradition of exchanges, laying a solid foundation for cooperation in pastoral exchanges, charitable work, and personnel development.

He expressed hope that the two sides would continue to deepen mutual learning, advance the practice of the Chinanization of Christianity, encourage believers to contribute to the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Great Bay Area, and serve the well-being of local communities.

Rev. Chan Tak-cheong thanked Guangdong CC&TSPM for its warm hospitality and recalled the long history of exchanges and cooperation between the churches in Guangdong and Hong Kong. He noted that Guangdong’s experience in advancing the Chinanization of Christianity, strengthening standardized church administration, and developing localized ministry offers valuable reference for Hong Kong churches.

He also hoped that both sides would further institutionalize regular exchanges and expand cooperation in pastoral ministry, social services, and personnel training. Rev. Chan also invited church co-workers from Guangdong to visit Hong Kong for future exchanges.

During the visit, the delegation paid visits to Shamian Church, Guangzhou CC&TSPM, Tianhe Church, Guangdong Union Theological Seminary and Union Church, as well as Fanyu Church.
