Rev. Wu Wei Attends the Installation Ceremony of the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury

From March 25 to 27, 2026, Rev. Wu Wei, President of CCC, led a three-member delegation from the Church in China to Canterbury, the United Kingdom, to attend the installation cermeony of the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally.



As the first woman to serve as the Archbishop of Canterbury in its 1,400-year history, the Most Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullaly’s installation took place on March 25 at Canterbury Cathedral. More than 2,000 people from around the world were present, including members of the UK royal family, the Prime Minister, and church leaders from various countries. The delegation from the Church in China also attended as a guest of the ecumenical community.


On the evening of March 25, a reception was held in Kent, presided by the Dean of Canterbury. Archbishop Mullally delivered an address. On behalf of the Church in China, Rev. Wu Wei extended sincere congratulations on her installation, and in response, Archbishop Mullally expressed her appreciation for the attendance of the delegation from the Church in China.



During the event, the delegation engaged in friendly exchanges with current and former general secretaries of the World Council of Churches, leaders from the Anglican Communion, and the representatives of various denominations. The delegates introduced the developments in Chinese society and the Church in China, helping to expand communication channels and deepen mutual understanding and trust.
