Brief Introduction to Henan TSPM

As a Protestant social organization, Henan TSPM works together with Henan CC to serve as a provincial mass organization for all believers in Henan Province. Henan Christian Conference is its highest institution.

On 19^th March, 1958, Henan’s first Christian Conference was held in Kaifeng. 198 representatives attended the Conference and passed the Resolution on Accepting the Leadership of the Communist Party and Embarking on the Socialist Path. They formulated and passed the Convention on Patriotism and Observance of law and established Henan TSPM. Zeng Youshan was elected Chairman of TSPM, Chen Shaizhen, Lin Ziyang and Kong Chongsheng Vice Chairman. Henan TSPM was temporarily located in Kaifeng.

During the Culture Revolution, all activities of Henan TSPM were forced to cease and were not restored until the year of 1980.

In June 1981, the third Henan Christian Conference convened and its third committee was elected, with Zeng Youshan as Chairman.

In June 1987, the fourth Henan Christian Conference was held in Zhengzhou. Representatives discussed and revised the Constitution of Henan TSPM. The fourth committee was elected, with Zeng Youshan as Chairman.

In June 1993, the fifth Henan Christian Conference was held in Zhengzhou. The fifth committee was elected and Helian Zhaoxuan was elected Chairman.

In June 1998, the sixth Henan Christian Conference was held in Zhengzhou. Representatives revised and passed a new Henan TSPM Constitution and elected the sixth committee, with 49 members and 25 standing committee members and Wu Chengrong as Chairman.

On 11^th August 2004, the seventh Henan Christian Conference were held in Zhengzhou, Representatives revised and passed a new Henan TSPM Constitution and elected the seventh committee, with 47 members and 27 standing committee members and Wu Chengrong as Chairman.

The purposes of Henan TSPM are to lead all believers to love our country and the church in China, uphold independence, maintain solidarity within the church and serve the church in Henan well.

The tasks of Henan TSPM are to unite the church in Henan under the leadership of CPC and the people’s government, guide Christians in Henan to love their socialist homeland, obey the constitution, laws, regulations and policies; stay committed to the principles of self-administration, self-reliance, self-evangelism and independence in running the church in Henan, safeguard and develop the fruits of the Three-self Patriotic Movement; assist the government to implement the policy of religious freedom and protect legitimate rights of the Church in Henan; contribute to the stability and solidarity of China, the material and spiritual construction of our socialist society, realization of China's unification, international exchanges and world peace.

Brief Introduction to Henan CC

As a Christian social organization, Henan CC is responsible for Christian affairs within the Province. It works with Henan TSPM and the Henan Christian Conference is its highest institution.

In June 1981, Henan CC was founded at the third Christian Conference of Henan TSPM. Henan CC leaders were elected at the same Conference, with Zeng Youshan as President, Chen Shuaizhen, Wang Shengcai and Du Liangtian as Vice Presidents and Yang Daoyi as General Secretary. Its site was temporarily located in Kaifeng.

In June 1987, the Second Henan CC Conference was convened in Zhengzhou. Henan CC Constitution was revised and the second committee was elected with Zeng Youshan as President.

In June 1993, the Third Henan CC Conference was convened in Zhengzhou and the third committee was elected with Helian Zhaoxuan as President.

In June 1998, the Fourth Henan CC Conference was convened in Zhengzhou. A new Henan CC Constitution was revised and passed. The fourth committee was elected with 49 members, 25 standing committee members and Helian Zhaoxuan as President.

On 11^th August, 2004, the Fifth Henan CC Conference was convened in Zhengzhou. A new Henan CC Constitution was revised and passed. The fifth committee was elected with 47 members, 27 standing committee members and Tang Weimin as President.

Henan CC serves the purposes of uniting all believers in Henan who believe in God and accept Christ as Lord to concertedly obey teachings of the Bible, the Three-self Patriotic principles, Henan church constitution and regulations, China’s constitution, laws, regulations and policies, so as to run the church in Henan well with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Henan CC and Henan TSPM work together and usually hold the Henan Christian Conference jointly.
