On the morning of 6th October, 2018, Daping Yujun Church of CC&TSPM in Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone in Fujian Province celebrated the 130th anniversary of church building and the 146th anniversary of introducing Christianity into the region.

Aside with leaders from Party Work Committee and Department of Party-Masses Relationship of the zone and local government officials, over 2000 pastors and the Christians from all parts of the country came to attend the celebration ceremony.

Rev. Xu Bijian, General-Director of Pingtan Christian Council, and Rev. Lin Xianlong, Deacon of the Yangzhong Parish, Pingtan CC&TSPM, were presiding over the ceremony.

Rev. Yue Qinghua, Chairperson of Fujian TSPM and President of Fujian Theological Seminary, was invited to give a sermon titled ‘Building up the Church’. He exhorted believers in terms of three aspects: head forward with the Lord, sublime to God and sacrifice for the Lord. He appealed to review and draw lessons from church history through this ceremony. Looking back to the past hundred years of the church history, a number of facts had strongly proved that the one and the only right way we should take to run Chinese church properly is to love the country and love the church, uphold Three-self principles and develop Christianity in the Chinese context. Rev. Yue stressed that the premises of a good church are to run a good theological seminary, cultivate talents, reject heresy and extremism, prevent private meeting spots and fight against self-proclaimed evangelists and so on.

Rev. Yang Sheng, President of Pingtan Christian Council called to worship; Rev. Shi Guiming, Vice-President of Fujian Christian Council made the commencement prayer. Rev. Chen Xiaoyong, Dean of Fujian Theological Seminary led the audience to recite Apostle’s Creed, followed by Rev. Lin Rong, President of Pingtan TSPM, making the thanksgiving prayer. Then, members of the standing committee of Pingtang CC&TSPM, Head of the pastoral area, together with pastors read verses in correspondence.

At length, this ceremony ended up with the benediction given by Rev. Yue Qinghua.
