On August 26, 2026, an ice-and-rock avalanche on the Nepal side of the China-Nepal border triggered a cross-border mudslide that devastated Gyirong Port in Gyirong County, Xigaze, Tibet, causing heavy casualties and leaving many people missing. Local transportation, power, and communications infrastructure were severely damaged.

Moved by the suffering of those affected in the disaster-stricken region, Shanghai Agape Foundation acted quickly by donating 200,000 yuan to the Shanghai Red Cross Society. The donation will support emergency rescue efforts, humanitarian assistance for affected residents, the provision of essential living supplies, and post-disaster reconstruction in Gyirong.
