This region had suffered from heavy snowstorms since blizzards struck in December 2018. The situation was worsened by continuous snowfall that threatened local livestock. As the major revenue for the habitants on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the damage in Plateau animal could affect the livelihood of 98% population.

The Amity Foundation donated 500,000 RMB to the Snowland Great Rivers Environmental Protection Association (SGR), and provided hay for the livestock to fight against the coldness. Additionally, hay could be used to feed wildlife animals and help some of them survive from the severe weather.
