Led by Prof. Ray Whitehead, the United Church of Canada delegation visited Shaanxi CC&TSPM on November 28, 2019. Rev. Wang Jun, president and chairman of Shaanxi CC&TSPM and other staff members warmly received the guests.

Rev. Wang Jun first extended sincere welcome to the delegates, and then recalled the friendly exchanges between Shaanxi CC&TSPM and the United Church of Canada over the past three decades or so. He expressed gratitude towards the support received in building Shaanxi Bible School, and expected to strengthen exchanges between the two sides in the future.

Afterwards, Rev. Qi Hongjun, vice president and vice chairman & interim secretary general introduced the basic situation of Shaanxi churches and Shaanxi CC&TSPM’s major ministries, including trainings for clergies and laypersons, work relevant to indigenization and contextualization of Christianity in China, media ministries, overseas exchanges, social service ministries, etc.

The delegates were interested in topics about the indigenization and contextualization of Christianity in China and Reconstruction of Theological Thinking. Rev. Wang Jun presented concrete examples to explain the contemplation and practices by the Church in China, encompassing “God Is Love”, “Perceive Correctly the Truth, Goodness and Beauty in the Society”, “Cultivate the Correct View of Bible”, the environmental-friendly practice: “Cherish God’s Creation and Build a Wonderful Life”, etc. The delegation highly praised the contemplation on the indigenization and contextualization of Christianity in China and the ministries of all sorts.

The delegation then paid a visit to Shaanxi Bible School. Rev. Wang Hong, president of the Bible school, Vice President Rev. Chen Dingliang and other staff members had a meeting with the guests.
